Dierks+Company, a leading strategy and legal consultancy for healthcare and life sciences, has gained Prof. Dr. Rainer Schlegel (66), a proven expert in social law. The long-standing President of the Federal Social Court will join the Dierks+Company team in Berlin as Of Counsel on July 1, 2024.
Prof Dr. Rainer Schlegel is regarded as one of Germany's leading experts in social and healthcare law. He also has extensive expertise in the area of compulsory insurance, for example in status determination procedures and other status issues. He has an excellent network in the healthcare sector thanks to his many years of work at the Federal Social Court.
Prof. Dr. Rainer Schlegel has been a judge at the Federal Social Court since 1997 and was appointed presiding judge in 2008. From 2010 to the end of 2013, he headed the Labour Law and Occupational Health and Safety Department at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. After returning to the Federal Social Court, he was first appointed Vice President and then President in October 2016. He remained in office until February 2024.
Prof. Dr. Schlegel is a renowned editor and author of numerous commentaries on social law. He also acts as editor and publisher of several specialist journals in the field of social law and social jurisdiction. He is an honorary professor of social law at Justus Liebig University Giessen.

Rainer Schlegel is the fifth significant addition to Dierks+Company's team this year. Shortly before the end of the year, Dr. Dominik Roters, then head of the legal department and deputy managing director of the G-BA, joined Dierks+Company as an equity and managing partner. Dr. Stefan Lange, previously Deputy Director of the Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Healthcare (IQWiG) with proven expertise in the scientific evaluation of medical interventions, joined Dierks+Company as Chief Scientific and Medical Officer. Anja Tiedemann, an experienced specialist in medical and pharmaceutical law, moved from the G-BA to Dierks+Company in April. Most recently, Andreas Propp, the G-BA's legal counsel of many years' standing, also joined Dierks+Company.
