The strategy and legal consulting firm Dierks+Company continues its strategic growth by securing Privatdozent Dr. med. Stefan Lange, a distinguished specialist in the scientific evaluation of medical interventions. Dr. Lange, moving from the Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care (IQWiG), is joining Dierks+Company as Chief Scientific and Medical Officer, where he will serve as an expert in evidence-based medicine, advising on the optimization and evaluation of studies for the benefit assessment of drugs and methods.
As Deputy Director, Dr. Stefan Lange has significantly influenced the activities of IQWiG since 2005 alongside Prof. Sawicki, Prof. Windeler, and Dr. Kaiser. As an independent institution, IQWiG investigates the benefits and harms of medical interventions and assesses the advantages and disadvantages of diagnostic and treatment methods. IQWiG's reports, which include drugs, non-drug treatments, diagnostic and screening procedures, treatment guidelines, and Disease Management Programs (DMPs), are crucial for decisions made by the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) or the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) regarding which medical services are covered by statutory health insurance.
Stefan Lange studied medicine at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf from 1982 to 1989 and received his doctorate there in 1994. From 1989 to 1993, he worked as a physician at the Medical Clinic of the Ferdinand Sauerbruch Klinikum in Wuppertal. In 1993, he moved to the Department of Medical Informatics, Biometry, and Epidemiology at Ruhr University Bochum. In 1999, he obtained the Certificate of Biometry in Medicine from the German Society for Medical Informatics, Biometry, and Epidemiology (GMDS). He qualified as a professor at Ruhr University in 2003. In November 2004, he joined IQWiG, where he headed the "Non-Drug Interventions" department until the end of 2007. Since 2005, he has served as Deputy Director. In recent years, he has contributed to the development of the EU-HTA at the European level for IQWiG.

Just before the end of the year, Dominik Roters, former head of the legal department and deputy managing director of the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA), joined Dierks+Company as Equity and Managing Partner. The experienced legal expert specializing in pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and healthcare is focused on complex legal issues in the healthcare sector. Marcus Guardian also joined Dierks+Company at the beginning of the year as a partner and expert in the evaluation of health technologies (HTA). He has taken over the management of the new office in Brussels and is driving forward the business areas of Governmental Affairs and EU-HTA.
